Upton Village Hall Plant Sale – cancelled

With Spring peeping around the corner, we’re reminded that gardening in earnest will soon be with us. So here’s a reminder that our annual plant sale is on Sunday 17th May at 2.00pm in Upton Village Hall, Cargate Lane.

If you are dividing plants and have any to spare, we’d be happy to have them to pot up, if necessary, and to hold on to them until the sale. This also goes for any garden paraphernalia you have to spare. Just contact Ginny Pitchers on 01493 750932.

Concert 16th May – cancelled

Suneli in Concert: a feast of song from the Republic of Georgia. St Lawrence’s, South Walsham, Saturday 16th May, 7 p.m.

Suneli is a Norwich-based choir that sings music from the Republic of Georgia. A group of some twenty singers from all over Norfolk, as well as Suffolk and Essex, we are united in our love of the thrilling polyphonic harmonies that make Georgian music unique. Our programme for this concert revolves around the seasons of the year, the cycle of life, and the traditions of the Georgian Orthodox Church. It reflects the regional variety within the country, from remote villages in the Caucasus mountains to lush lowlands; and we’ll be singing many genres, from ancient sacred songs and circle dance songs to modern day party songs; lullabies and laments; toasts, work songs and love songs.

Admission is free: there will be a retiring collection and all profits, after our costs are covered, will go to the charity Médecins sans Frontières. For more information, please visit www.stephanie-anderson.co.uk
