We asked BT when they would be removing the former phone kiosk. This is their reply:
“We are involved with the payphone side of things in the Planning Office here and can tell you that the kiosk is one that we are proposing to remove as part of a UK wide programme whereby a large number of unused boxes are being removed. The removals will take place over the next couple of years or so. Our contractors work around the country from area to area and they determine the order in which they are done, which I’m afraid means its’ not possible to give a time frame beyond that at the moment.
I’m very sorry we cannot be more precise at the moment – it’s a long process, unfortunately.”
On 7th July Beighton Community Speed Watch was trained and will be out in the village shortly. Please contact PC Andy Mason at Sprowston on 101 if you are interested in starting up a new scheme or simply to find out more about it.
